Pinwhisper ("we," "us") is an AI-powered road trip companion that surfaces curated points of interest along your route. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Pinwhisper you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

- Anonymous account. During the beta we create an anonymous account identifier for you. We do not require your name or email to use the app.

- Location. With your permission, we use your device location to surface nearby stops and deliver location-aware notifications as you approach them. We also use the starting point and destination you enter to plan a route.

- Trip and activity data. Routes you create, places you save or visit, ratings, notes, and badges you earn.

- Photos. If you add a photo to a place you visited or share it with the community, we store that image.

- Basic technical data. App and diagnostic information used to keep the app running and improve it.

How we use your information

- To provide the core experience: discovering and suggesting stops along your route.

- To personalize suggestions based on the interests you select.

- To deliver timely, location-aware notifications.

- To operate, maintain, and improve the app.

How discovery works

To generate suggestions, we send your route (origin and destination) and your selected interests to our AI provider, Anthropic, which returns relevant places. We do not send your precise device location or personal identity for this purpose.

Service providers

We share limited data with providers that help us run Pinwhisper:

- Supabase: secure storage of your account, trips, and content.

- Anthropic: AI generation of point-of-interest suggestions.

- Apple: app distribution and beta testing via TestFlight.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices

- You can allow or deny location access in your device settings. Denying it limits the app's core features.

- You can request deletion of your data by emailing us (see below).

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion at any time.

Children

Pinwhisper is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date.
